We recently contracted the Alderwoods to renovate our bathroom and also to build a gazebo in our backyard.
The bathroom renovation went so smooth and quick. Spencer’s attention to detail was amazing. He would always ensure it was proceeding to our liking. For instance, the colour of paint we had chosen did not look very good once on the wall. Spencer and Pete suggested another colour that worked perfectly. Spencer works absolutely clean. At the end of every day, there would be no evidence a renovation was in progress. Pete and Spencer are so reliable and pleasant to have around.
The gazebo is also beautifully done. The workmanship is excellent. And again, once the job started it was completed in a very timely fashion.
We get so many compliments on these projects, and we would not hesitate for second to get them back for another project.

Spencer and Peter are fantastic to work with. From our first consult with them, right through to the finished project (and now even after!), they've had our backs. We brought them in to look at our main bathroom - it desperately needed a facelift and redesign, since we couldn't even open the door properly! They presented us with all our options, helped us make all the right decisions, and broke down everything they were doing every step of the way. They did a full gut, moved one wall and rebuilt the entire room. It looks absolutely incredible now and we couldn't be happier.

Jay and I aren't the kind of people who will just recommend anyone.  We have to be confident before we encourage others to use a service and we are pleased to recommend father and son team, Peter and Spencer.  We've had them work on our home so often now, they have become like family to us really - I had to hug them good-bye the last few times.  These two are quality contractors. If you are looking to have something done correctly, up to code, using high quality products, materials that are made to last, then look no further.  Spencer does most of the craftsmanship himself and truly is an artist.  He is very precise, likes clean lines and symmetry and will go out of his way to make a floor stop squeaking or have a door work perfect (even if it isn't part of the current project)! The added bonus with these two is that you can trust them, they won't do work that is not needed, they are "nice" guys as in my children can be around them and have been (a lot), and they clean up their construction debris EVERY day! Regarding Alderwood Renovation | Construction.

During our renovations we found Peter and Spencer Alderwood to be professional, reliable and straight forward. They take great pride in their work always ensuring we are happy with the results. They are careful with whom they choose to do any electrical, plumbing or other specialized work requiring a permit. We would not hesitate to recommend the Alderwoods for any kind of carpentry, renovation, or other home related work.

Jennifer and I were planning our wedding in early 2012 when we decided to do some renovations at my place on Plante Drive in Ottawa. The plan was to redo the backyard, new cedar fencing, decking and pergola. When we saw firsthand the thought and care that Peter and Spencer Alderwood put into their design efforts and work, we were amazed and delighted. Every piece of cedar was carefully selected and crafted into handsome and sturdy fencing and decking. The attention to detail was so obvious, even sharp wooden edges were carefully sanded; nothing to splinter was allowed anywhere.

Seeing these results we decided to have the inside of my two story 1970's home renovated. The Alderwoods have extensive experience in home renovations. Starting with the basement, a variety of options were discussed with a plan and cost agreed upon. They commenced the real work, gutting the basement and building a new  bedroom, living/entertainment space, built in closet, full 3 pc bath, office and large laundry/storage room. They then focused on the the first and second floors installing new flooring throughout, new bathroom fixtures in 3 locations with custom granite counter tops and custom shower enclosures. They replaced all interior doors, baseboard, window/door trim and moldings throughout the home, repaired ceilings and paint throughout. Everything done to perfection.

We were so pleased with these results, we decided to have the Alderwoods renovate Jennifer's 1950's bungalow before selling the house. Again a plan and cost was discussed and agreed upon. The basement a total gut and rebuild given a bedroom, laundry room, large bathroom, huge livving/family room and seperated mechanical room. The main floor was completely redone with a whole new kitchen, floors throughout, additional main bathroom, and enlargement of the master en-suite. We were able to sell the house in 2 days for a reasonable profit after renovations.
